Trauma / Triggers
Channeled quote: “If it’s hysterical, it’s historical.”
This quote means that if you feel intensely unsafe, sad, angry, scared, etc., your body will remember it. That qualifies as trauma for you. It doesn’t matter if it was middle school bullying or an abusive relationship. That counts as trauma for you.
Everyone has a different and valid experience with trauma. And it is not anyone else’s place to try to tell you that it’s not a big deal or doesn’t matter. Yes, it does.
When you are triggered, you are reminded of a certain type of trauma and it makes you behave in a similar way to when you first experienced it. Some people respond to their trauma with humor as a way of deflecting its negative influence on their soul. Other people cry it out or need to share with others.
Advice
Please take care of yourself during this time. If you are triggered or experiencing trauma, it’s important to find someone or somewhere who feels safe to you. For me personally, I tend to need space away from others to recover and listen to healing music, journal, or do yoga. This self-care looks different for everyone.
